DHEA is an endogenous steroid. It is the most abundant steroid in human beings. It acts on the androgen receptor directly and through its metabolites (androstenediol and androstenedione). These metabolities can undergo further conversion to produce the androgen testosterone and the estrogens estrone and estradiol. It is produced synthetically and used as a supplement because studies show that it can decrease cholesterol and other serum lipids. Research carried out on samples suggests that the levels of testosterone and estrogen are increased by its use. The fruit of the plant has also been used as a diuretic and a urinary antiseptic. Other than this, it is also used to treat headaches and problems of the eyes, such as conjunctivitis and weak eyesight. It has been used traditionally to treat people with gout problems. The use of Tribulus Terrestris has shown no adverse side effects.

Vitamin E is the name for a group of tocopherols and tocotrienols that are soluble in fat and display antioxidant properties. The most important vitamin out of this group is alpha tocopherol, which professes the highest bioavailability, and therefore, was the most studied Vitamin E.
